INDIE Blogger Challenge: Week 2 Day 1

It's week 2 of the INDIE blogger challenge already, and I'm updating my About Me page as well as my mini bio!

owl piggy bank / thrifting :: bud vase / thrifting :: hand sanitizer / target by method :: light / ikea
 Mini bio:
I'm a small-town derby girl who loves knitting, DIY, and all things sweet. When I'm not knitting, I'm thinking up new things to create and subjecting myself to grueling training sessions that leave me sweating, ragged, and loving life.
And check out my new about page!

INDIE Blogger Challenge: Week 1 Day 3

The final day of week one is all about nailing down exactly what kind of blogger I am. I absolutely love reading outfit posts with lots of pictures, but my outfits aren't really what I feel like blogging about. My knitting, DIY, and baking with a few other topics sprinkled in there and LOTS of pictures sounds more like my thing!

I threw around a few ideas for different potential names and taglines. The name is staying, but the tagline is out. My life's become less about my geeky side and more about baking, knitting, and decor over the years. Not that my inner nerd won't shine through every now and again.

INDIE Blogger Challenge: Week 1 Day 2

It's Day 2 of my INDIE Blogger Challenge, and it's all about finding my voice and knowing my limits.

How much of my personal life will I be sharing in this blog?
Well, the same amount I would share with a random stranger on the street. Which is actually quite a bit, because I've learned through the years that strangers really do make the best therapists. And also, in my personal life as well as my blog life, I just don't really understand the point of not being completely honest about my feelings, thoughts, and opinions so be prepared to read about them.
What are my limits?
The only cursing you will read on this blog is when I'm quoting someone's words, because I don't like it when someone misquotes me so I wouldn't want to misquote anyone else. You will mostly not find faith or political discussions here, because neither are a very big part of my life. Though I do sometimes find a political issue I really mesh with and care about or a story of non-tolerance that really peeves me so there's always a chance of a rant in here somewhere.

INDIE Blogger Challenge: Week 1 Day 1

I've signed up for the INDIE Blogger e-course over at Delightfully Tacky, and instead of blindly changing things up all willy-nilly, I thought I'd give you guys some insight into my blog revamping!

I purchased this e-course because it appeared to have loads of helpful information and it's written by two successful bloggers that wanted to give the general public not only what they learned from blogging seminars, but also what they've learned from years of blogging. It's structured very nicely with a plethora of focus points for every major topic plus bonus content all catalogued ready to be sifted through.

My first "assignment" - as I'm calling them - is to find my focus. To do this, I'll be freewriting (free-typing) for 30 seconds, focusing on what I enjoy.

Baking. Martin. Kitties. Knitting. Decorating. Writing. Taking pics. Reading. Video games. Derby. Skating. Training. TV shows. Thrifting. Drawing.

Narrowing this list down to just a few things to blog about was pretty difficult because I do love all of these things so much.

My main focuses for this blog will be baking, knitting, decorating, my progression with roller derby (and maybe even the road to the World Cup '14), and my progression with training / becoming a personal trainer. And maybe there will be a few intermittent posts regarding the other topics I enjoy every now and again.
